im haertbroken. today i overheard my parents talking about my dad, who got diagnosed with prostate cancer. hes 70. im only 14 but anyways im really sad and i hope this all isnt true. we have a very low income as well (40K ish?) but luckily my brother got a full scholarship this year to stanford. im really sad and i heard my mom talking to my dad about how he has to get surgery because in our family, health comes before money. but isnt surgery like $20,000? thats half our income! so im really concerned and im about to cry

I’ve had my AVR surgery on December 17, 2007 and St.Jude mechanical valve size 22 is used. After surgery I feel that my erection is not that hard as was before surgery, I even feel reduced sex drive. I’m 30 Male, married. I was chain smoker, before surgery I use to smoke almost 40 cigarettes a day, but I quit since I went through my surgery, I haven’t had a single cigarette since then neither I’ve any desire to do so. Currently my Hemoglobin is 10.4.
My question is that is there any relation between AVR surgery and sex life, if yes then how can I overcome this problem. Thank you in advance for your kind guidance, please.

Ok, I have a little… hmmm… problem. Really little. I heard only plastic surgery can help with that but I’m afraid of it. So any other suggestions are highly appreciated. My Father is scheduled for aortic valve replacement and bypass surgery. About a year ago he developed a condition called black hairy tongue the same time he was receiving radiation for prostate cancer. He is 84 years old and in good health otherwise. He also says his throat feels alittle sore (not related to a cold so not sure if there is any coorelation). Our concern is if this is a fungus it will cause problems with his aortic valve replacement. I believe this is also different from “Thrush”. We have seen two infectious disease doctors along with an ENT doctor and all seem to say there would be no issues.

His biopsy of the tongue came back benign. The tissue was not invaded, but apparently this is a yeast like fungus.

My Father really wants to get rid of this before the sugery. He does not chew tobacco, drink alot of coffee or any of the other usual reasons for getting this…..even some of the antifungal medications such as diflucan do not work….

If there is anyone in the medical field that has any information it would be greatly appreciated
