When you get put on birth control what do they do?

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

I’m extremely scared of the doctor and extremely weirded out by people wanting to touch me that aren’t my husband. We have been having sex since I was fifteen (I’m now 20) and I’ve never gotten preggers but we have always been so careful and used a condom and he never usually never c*ms inside of me, but we have started having no condom sex and just pulling out but I know this could fail and neither one of us want children so we have to be careful. I know its pathetic that I’ve never been looked at down there and im 20 but I’ve been with the same man in a faithful relationship and we’ve never ever broken up or anything. we were each others firsts so I know I don’t have an STD so I never felt the need. But I know its time and I’m horrified. What exactly do they look at before they put you on birth control?

What would be a good birth control option for me?

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

I am 18 years old, and had a baby 6 months ago. I only have one partner (my husband) so no worry about stds or anything. I have tried Mirena and completely hate it. I feel bloated, crampy, nauseous, had food cravings, weight gain, and always have a “theirs something inside me” feeling. My husband can feel the strings, and the only good thing about it is i don’t have much of a period (a thick mucus blob is more like it) and I cant get pregnant no way no how. My chanced of getting pregnant are the same as a woman sleeping with a man who had a vasectomy or her tubed tyed. I’m about to have it taken out to donate a cycle of eggs to a infertile couple and was wondering your opinion on a good birth control option, and your experience with it (if any). I’m weary about going on the pill because, to be honest, I forget. Something once a week or less is better, and has to be safe for breastfeeding.

If you’re on birth control for about 6-7 years, can you still get pregnant later on?

Friday, April 8th, 2011

I had a baby when I was fairly young and went on birth control. I was on all different ones (depo shot, patch and pill) for 6, almost 7 years. I decided to stop to try to replenish my “system”. I am finally with the man of my dreams and I want to have a baby with him now but I am deathly afraid I wont be able to get pregnant because i messed up my body so bad. I dont do drugs, I dont drink, I live a very straight life. Does anyone know about this subject? Or have any advice? Thanks so much.

Why don’t they teach withdrawal as a method of birth control?

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

When used right, withdrawal is actually about 94% effective. It is a myth that the precum contains sperm. The only way it ever could is if a man doesn’t urinate before having sex again. (This cleans out any leftover semen from the last ejaculation).

The only thing is a man has to be very experienced and make sure to withdraw in time. That is why this method shouldnt be for teenagers who are usually unexperienced.

So why isnt this taught as a viable contraception method then? Many countries in Asia and the Middle East use this as their main method and their birth rate has stayed the same as those using more “professional” methods of birth control.

I think it has to do with the drug companies who want you to buy their birth control so they will make money. The pill sucks anyways. It takes away your sex drive and makes you gain weight. Why is this method so taboo when it really is a viable method when used correctly then?
You are all wrong, LOOK up the facts. There have only been TWO studies done to try and find sperm in pre cum. One found no sperm, the other found sperm but they were not moving anymore, they were “dead”.

Doctors arent going to tell the truth! They have an obligation to the drug companies you idiots!
My boyfriend and I have been using the withdrawal method for 3 and a half years and no baby yet!

How can I help PMS with out birth control?

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Before and after my cycle, my skin is fine, but during it breaks out very bad. I get very painful back aches, my boobs hurt, I’m exhausted and I have head aches, not to mention HORRIBLE cramps. I know most peoples answers would be to go on Birth Control, but because of a heart condition I can’t take birth control. Is there anyway to make my PMS more tolerable and help my skin?
p.s. I’ve tried every product known to man for my skin, none of them work.

getting married..first pap..birth control?

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Hey. I’m getting married in a few months. I’ve just recently become sexually active so I’ll have to get a pap. I’ve never had this done before (and before anyone says if i don’t know these things then I shouldn’t get married or that i’m not old enough that’ss not the case, I was just a really sheltered child and this isn’t something i can discuss with my parents and I have no sisters) ok I would like as much info about my first time going. I have not had sex for about 3 weeks. I am really nervous. also, will I have to get a pregnancy test before getting prescribed birth control? We only had sex without a condom once (yes i know only once and it can happen) and it wasn’t even sex he just inserted and then werealizedd that we were being dumb..and my period started the next day. and he is the only man i have ever had sex with and I am the only one he;s been with as well.

I would just like some info on my first time going to get a pap. and what kinds of questions they will ask me while I am there.

thanks!!

thanks everyone. and no we didn’t have sex ed or anything like that in my highschool.

thanks sillybassgirl you were very helpful! :)

I’m almost out of birth control pills, but can’t get a doctor’s appointment for a week. What will happen?

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

I’ve been on birth control for several years. I’ve always taken it around the same time every day, it’s become a habit. I knew I had to make an appointment to get my next prescription (I go to the health dept.), but I didn’t realize how close I was to being out. I’m actually already on my last pack & will be out by this Sunday. I had an appointment for this morning, but the office had moved & I couldn’t find it & my cell is cut off, so I couldn’t call. So I went on to work & called to reschedule. But they can’t get me in for a week. Which will mean I will be without any birth control pills for a week. What will happen to my system, since I’m so used to being on them? And if I start again next Sunday, won’t that mess my whole cycle up? And how much more likely is it for me to pregnant by going a week without pills? I’m debating on whether or not I should just quit taking them, period. I’m 33 & I’m in a serious relationship. With the same man for several years. I mainly stay on them to keep my periods regulated & it is nice to not have to worry about getting pregnant. I don’t really think it would be a good idea for me to get pregnant at this time. So now I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I should quit them all together or go on to the appointment & miss a whole week worth of pills. I don’t know what would happen. If you have any answers &/or advice, please share. Thank you in advance!

Overly paranoid about birth control? What is too much?

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

Say a man and a woman have sex. Two consenting adults in a committed relationship. Both financially secure enough to have/raise a child, but neither wanting children.

She is not on any form of birth control. (No pill, no IUD, ect.)
When they have sex, they use a new, quality condom, properly used as per the instructions, and the condom is put on the male before any genital contact.
During sex, the male does not ejaculate inside the woman, instead, he “pulls out” and ejaculates inside the condom, outside of the woman.
The condom is then checked for leaks, by filling with water. The condom is found to have no leaks, and is thrown away.

So my question is this. Is there any reasonable cause for the woman to feel the need to take an emergency contraceptive? In this case, Next Choice. Or, would taking the “morning after pill” be over kill.

Getting off of Birth Control?

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Hello ladies :)
I know everyone gets tired of birth control/period related questions, but seeing as how a majority of my friends are male I resort to you:)… I took BC for about 1 year and got off of the pill about 1month ago because the hormones made me feel super crazy/emotional … while physical side effects seemed slightly better I couldnt handle feeling constantly psycho, lol.

It has only been approximitly 22 days since my last period, but man! PMS has been psycho this month. I havent felt AS emotional but my physical side effects worse! I am SO bloated I feel and look I look pregnant … (Rationally this is not feesable I know).

My boyfriend insists that my extreem and longer than usual bloating/PMS is related to this being my ‘first real period’ in a long time.

Did you have this happen to you? How long till it stops? Any advice on releaving the symptoms? (plus anything addional advice or personal experiences would be helpful!)

Thanks:)
Oh-and I cant forget my back cramps and extreem fatigue… ugh

Thanks Penguins-while that sounds miserable your story is good to know
